Our peer reviewed journal is published in colloboration with Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Medicine, include studies on many different fields on the law of medicine. The journal includes a wide range of subjects on the fields of criminal law of medicine, medicine and the constitution, and human rights.
The Law of Medicine is not considered an independent field of law; however it is considered to have close relationship with the other fields of law, and it is mostly studied under private law. It is obvious that the law of medicine has close relationship with criminal law, constitutional law, human rights law, and administrative law. For this reason the publications on these fields also concern the law of medicine. Today it may be observed that the Law of Medicine is claiming its rightful place. Even though the law schools in Turkey do not have an independent department of Medicine Law, for a long time it has been taught as an elective course in most law schools, and it has been taught as a compulsory course in some law schools.
It is observed that there are many monographic studies on very different fields on the Law of Medicine. Conventions organized by lawyers' bars and other institutions indicate the interest on this subject. Many universities and institutions also organize weekend 'Certificate Programs on the Law of Medicine'.
All of these developments indicate that it is time for an independent journal solely on the Law of Medicine.
The main objective of this journal is to assemble medical practitioners together with legal practitioners. The Journal is not going to be solely under the tutelage of legal practitioners. We are hoping that medical practitioners would also publish their papers related to their legal problems. You may see some examples of these papers in our Journal.
Since it is only related to the Law of Medicine it is difficult for these publications to find a channel in other Journals. This is another reason for us to create a channel for scholarly papers in the Law of Medicine.
In our Journal you will find studies written by many esteemed legal, and esteemed medical professionals.
